Sunday shingles

We finished the shingles on the north side of the cabin today. That included fitting the cable vent into place. While we were up there, we used siding scraps to install a soffit, which improves the appearance a bunch, and provides a natural place for the trim to end (when we get to it). Flower intermission! My favorite is the trillium. We also continued our surveying project, this time doing the main house pad at 1' intervals. We set up a laser level, then traced out the contours with spray paint. Then we took aerial photos with a quadcopter to get a contour map right on the terrain.

Saturday shingles

Boy, every piece needs a special cut! Took a break to enjoy a sun break. We walked the property to collect contour lines, and saw a few pretty mountain fleurs poking their heads up. (Christina's evaluation: "Wow! That's a pretty good mural for people who aren't really, you know, vandals.") We took another break to improve the aesthetics of our storage box. Nine at night and we've got shingles done on one end of the building.

Up goes the siding

Lunch is microwave cuisine brought to you by the gasoline generator and an extension cord. Almost done! Caulking the boo-boos and primering the nail heads. Today we swapped roles: I locked up the storage container and Eliot used the other keys:

Installing the attic floor

Boy we haven't been up here in a while! Eliot took the snow tires off Saturday, and a snowstorm came through last night that closed the pass this morning. Eliot put the snow tires back on this morning. Our lumberyard delivery was here waiting for us. The top layer was osb for the attic floor, so we put that in first.
