Appliances, window repair, and HVAC ... a busy day

Today was a big day. The Milgard guy came up to snap the big window trim back into place, again. I have the feeling they'll be back a year from now. The appliance guys came up from Seattle and installed our washer, dryer, and stove, and refused to install our fridge and dishwasher. 60% is ... close, anyway! The HVAC guys from Yakima installed our system years ago suggested we keep it off until we were done making sawdust, and I think we're there now, so they came out to turn it on today. Jeff came up, too. We installed some final bits of trim: transitions on the french doors, details on the stairs area, and trim inside the closet. We also got all but two cupboard handles installed.

New railings

The original railing shop didn't build the railings to the plans we gave them. And didn't install enough handrail. We decided it would be better to fix everything right, so we found a shop in Yakima that did a great job. They installed the finished railing today. While I was there, I cleaned up and measured for mirrors and other missing stuff. I also saw this slithery fellow.

Electrical final inspection passed

Sunday I came up to take care of a handful of tiny details before the electrical inspection. Now the utility closet wall is all tidy. I also sanded and varnished the new front door plugs. Monday I got the call from the electrical inspector this morning, so I rushed up to the cabin to be ready. While I waited for his arrival, I completed the downstairs shower trim. The electrical inspection passed, and now we have this lovely sticker.

Hot water, soft water

The last of the closet paint is done, and I installed the water heater! Hooray! Our water filter, softener and UV systems were installed today. I installed a bunch of handles on kitchen and linen closet drawers. I put in the second shower bar.
