Howell Cabin

 Siggy and I came up today to meet the Marson & Marson forklift bearing a load of lovely clear vertical grain fir trim wood. We assembled a portable garage tent (10x20 feet) to act as a dust- and rain-shelter for applying finish. I made the racks shown in the photo above to stack the wood that's done or waiting its turn to get finished. Siggy split a big pile of firewood.

I met the crew from Armstrong's Yakima today to get the woodstove (and its stovepipe) installed. While I was up there, I worked on a floor electrical outlet, began patching up this wall edge in the bathroom (where we'd been planning tile but changed back to just drywall), and bucked another pile of firewood rounds.  

  I drove up to the cabin today to meet a tree contractor. Since I was up there anyway, I took care of some other business. I got the wood stove out and ready to install on Monday. I vacuumed up the tiny particles of styrofoam packaging material from last year's roofing panels that would have been much easier to clean up last year. I put the bathroom outlet back into its adjusted place above the backsplash. I corrected my installation of the heat pump wiring with a pair of reducing washers. Now it's really done. I replaced the emergency brake battery system in the flatbed trailer.  I bucked a bunch of old logs into rounds for firewood.

We came up today to meet the stone crew who needed to do some final work. We used the opportunity to get a few of our own things done.   The big story: Christina cut the last row of tiles for the hearth and grouted everything in, so now we're ready to place the woodstove!     Jon installed the last leg of wiring for the heat pump: He also put roofing on our woodshed. The chimney repair left over enough scrap metal roofing to do one side of the shed, so from this angle, it matches the cabins. :D  

On Saturday Christina tiled the hearth for the woodstove. Meanwhile Jon corrected the placement of a bathroom outlet that interfered with the stone backsplash. (Dang rough-in electrician!) He also did a big dump run and got supplies to complete the wiring to the outdoor heat pump compressor.

On Wednesday we opened the cabin for the countertop crew from Yakima to install our soapstone countertops. Jon mowed the lawn.

Christina and I arrived to take delivery of the interior doors that the lumberyard has been fostering for years. Jon did a final watertightness test of the downstairs shower pan that had gotten cracked and repaired.
