I'm the Stair Master!

Friday The skirt trim needs to be installed before the stairs; that keeps the pretty finish cuts much simpler. I spent the whole day carefully measuring and cutting these boards. They're ridiculously expensive pieces of wood; I didn't want to make any mistakes. Success was getting far enough I could put a first coat of finish on them. Saturday Two more coats of finish on the skirts. While those dried, I installed the last two riser spacers. I rounded the exposed edge of the car decking floor to help it fit in with the round noses of the oak stair treads that will lead up to it. I mowed the weeds. And I saw this little guy. Monday Siggy and Jon nearly finished off the master bedroom floor, leaving the tricky last few rows for Doug. We fixed a few hundred more screws and installed a few hundred more plugs. Then we cut and installed some splines to fill a big gap in the ...

Finally Floors

Friday   Jon installed plainsawn fir flooring in the boys' bedroom to match the car decking on the second floor. (They don't match well yet because the car decking has been aging for three years. They'll get there.) Meanwhile Doug from Restoration Hardwoods installed oak in the great room. Saturday Jon installed the girls' room floor.  Christina taught archery class for our visiting friends.
