...and tile and deck...

Today's visit was motivated by having the state Forester and the county Fire Marshal up to check our progress on wildfire safety. Before they showed up, we got some stuff done. First, we figured out exactly where we wanted the woodstove to end up.   Siobhan found a critter skull in the woods.  Christina got farther on the utility room tile. Jon and Siggy added five more boards to the deck, the skirts that will carry the stair stringers:

Bits and pieces

The first order of business for Jon's visit today was getting the internet working at the big cabin. The first subtask was removing this wasp nest inside the hole that the starlink cable comes through... Then plugging the hole with a little 3D printed plug: Then I routed some ethernet cord on the outside of the little cabin to a wifi extender. The other end of the extender is on the back side of the big cabin, with ethernet routed through the crawlspace to an access point under the stairs. How did it take all day  to run a couple ethernet cables!? Partly it was because I glanced at the conductor order guide and forgot it contained a subtle trap: ...I haven't crimped an ethernet connector in a very long time, apparently. That left me a couple hours to make a little tiny bit more progress on the back deck. I added two rim boards to complete the rim joist.

Tiles n things

We finally hauled the other half of our tile order from the store to the cabin. Christina made more progress on the tile floor of the utility room. Jon installed a whole four pieces of wood to complete the last joist on the end deck.
