Finished a tile floor, firewood, deck boards

Friday Jon finished up the rest of the structure for the firewood shed. Saturday Christina got the challenging floor of the laundry room completed! Jon sanded boards for the front deck. We stopped for burgers for lunch. Siggy chopped up a great deal of firewood... ...and stacked it in the firewood shed.

Firewood

Saturday We have earthmoving folks coming up to adjust the space around the cabin to be less treacherous. In preparation, I need to move our firewood stack out of the way. I got most of the way through building a new firewood shed. Sunday Back at home, I glued some carpet pad to some plywood to form the base of a wood stove hearth.

Deck work

Jialin and Tenzin came up to help today! We took down the scaffolding from the chimney project last week. We finished up the skirt around the front deck frame. We sanded some of the deck boards. We played on the archery range.

Chimney corrected

Way back when we had the roof installed, we had the chimney box installed near the peak to protect the chimney from heavy snow crushing it. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that stovepipes don't like to offset very far horizontally. Oops. So we need to move the chimney box. Back on Sept 2 we dropped into the cabin for a quick errand: setting up the scaffolding in anticipation of the Armstrong folks coming to move the chimney box. Today the Armstrong's crew came up to move the chimney box and put a temporary patch over the old hole. As soon as they had the box pulled out of its old spot, I went up to the interior of the peak (25 feet above the floor!) and patched the hole and wood ceiling.
